Air Blown Fiber Solutions – It’s All About the Tubes

Air Blown Fiber (ABF) is an alternative way to install fiber optic cable in a LAN environment. Instead of pulling standard fiber optic cable, ABF uses a method to blow fiber cable point-to-point through pre-installed tubes to anywhere on the network.

The heart of the Sumitomo ABF system is a highway of tubes that can be installed in various pathways similar to the route of conventional fiber. The tubes can replace conduit, inner duct and pull boxes. The tube cable contains individually numbered tube cells inside a tough outer jacket. Fiber is blown through the tube cells to their destination.

A variety of tube cable types from Sumitomo can be implemented by NET100 to suite your requirements:

  • Outdoor/Indoor & Special Applications – These multi-tube cables are used for creating tube cable infrastructures in indoor or outdoor environments. They are ideal for duct installations or any normal outside plant (OSP) environment and may also be used for applications requiring riser installations.
  • Outdoor All-Dielectric – These single and multi-tube cables are designed for use in creating tube cable infrastructures in outdoor environments where non-conductive elements are desired or required. These cables are ideal for duct installations or any normal OSP environment.
  • Outdoor Armored – With its metallic protection, these multi-tube cables are primarily used for creating tube cable infrastructures in rugged installations. These cables are ideal for duct or direct buried applications.
  • Indoor Riser Rated Tube Cable – These multi-tube cables are used for creating indoor tube cable infrastructures. They are used for riser transitions between building floors and for intra-building backbones.
  • Indoor Plenum Rated – These single and multi-tube cables are used for creating indoor tube cable infrastructures. They are good for intra-building transitions which require plenum listed products.
  • Unjacketed Single Tubes – These are available in fire-retardant and non-flame-retardant versions. Fire-retardant tubes are used for indoor general applications. Non-flame retardant tubes are designed for indoor single tube drops where fire rating is unnecessary.

With air blown fiber, NET100 is able to build your network quickly, cleanly, and safely – with no disruption to your work environment.
